Happy June everyone!
Do you know that June is National Scoliosis Awareness Month? It is aimed to increase the awareness about scoliosis condition within the community and promote early detection and intervention.
I plan to do something special each week in June to observe national scoliosis awareness month. In the first week of June, I started to use my yoga mat again and learned a couple of new yoga routines. I bought the mat six years ago when I began to take Schroth sessions with my physical therapist.
Please share what you plan to do for Scoliosis Awareness Month!
Hello, Carolyn.
I am Kelly. Today is my 1 years anniversary of surgery. My mom found your website from her scoliosis facebook group. You built a good website. I read your story and I like it because I went through it too.
We drove 30 miles to Children's hospital scoliosis center to take my spine x-ray today, because that's the only location in our area which offers EOS x-ray. Dr. Samdani would like to see my x-ray every 6 months. My curve seems to be unchanged to me (now I am an experienced x-ray reader😀) My mom mailed my CD to Dr. S.
I told the girl and her mom next to me in the x-ray waiting room that June is Scoliosis Awareness Month. She seems to be worried about wearing her new brace. I told her a few tricks on how to ease the brace, and my website as well.
June this year is very special for me. After wearing braces for 5 years, last Friday my doctor said I could stop wearing it now! I am so thrilled that I am finally able to get rid of braces. That's the best moment in my life!
I attended my local curvy girls gathering today in the city park for the scoliosis month. It's pretty cool to meet new friends. We had some fun activities and snacks together.
My birthday is also on June. I designed a T-Shirt with a curve shaped like my spine. I added some green flowers and ribbons. I gave it for my family, grandparents and cousins, and they all wore it on my birthday dinner. It's cool.
